The association

Who are we?

Founded in May 1993, the AFAAP is an association of German law with headquarters in Bonn. It includes hundreds of French and Germans who were trainees in Parliament in Bonn / Berlin or Paris as part of the "Franco-German exchange of parliamentary assistants." The association aims to maintain the exchanges between students and friends of the program and, thereby, to further Franco-German friendship. In a program evaluation conducted by the AFAAP, it appears that the alumni have an important role of "multipliers" of the Franco-German relations in their respective industries: education, journalism, diplomacy, senior civil service etc. .The AFAAP works closely with the program and is known of a growing number of actors of Franco-German relations. Membership of the AFAAP is also open to anyone interested in its activities. What do we do? One of the main concerns of the AFAAP is to help new students prepare for their stay in Bonn or Paris, then to welcome them and support them during their stay. It provides them with practical information on the two parts of the program: daily life, university courses and Sciences-Po, search for "their" MP.

For example, some trainees were able to contact AFAAP to learn about the program. Finally, both in Paris and Berlin, the AFAAP held meetings with current students to welcome them and offer them support. In addition, AFAAP like to maintain the existing contacts between alumni. As such, a directory of alumni has been achieved, to be updated every year. Above all, the AFAAP published twice a year the Journal of the AFAAP which is essential for public relations. It is a forum for exchange and provides current information that do not just program developments, but also the events in France and Germany. The AFAAP-Journal is written either in French or German. The AFAAP would also help improve program quality and reputation with the French and German deputies in order to generate proposals for possible placement by the members themselves. After removal of the Deutscher Bundestag in Berlin, AFAAP actively supports the continuation of the program in Berlin. The highlight of the activity of the AFAAP is its general meeting, held alternately in Paris and Berlin. On this occasion, the association defines its priorities for the next year. Thus was launched a public relations capacity of AFAAP, a reassessment of the program after ten years, and the idea of ??a network of labor market France and Germany. The next general meeting will be held in Paris on 17-18 June 2006.
